We have developers who test their own code. Why add QA?

Developers test that the code does what they built it to do. QA tests what a stranger does to it at 6 am on a three-year-old Android phone with flaky reception. Those are different disciplines, and every mature product team keeps them separate — the person who wrote the flow is structurally the worst-placed person to break it.

Does QA certify that our app is secure and compliant?

No — and be suspicious of anyone who says otherwise. Functional QA proves behavior against an agreed scope and reports evidence. It does not certify security, privacy, clinical safety, accessibility conformance, or regulatory compliance. Those are separately qualified scopes with their own specialists, and we'll tell you plainly when your product needs one.

What does the go/no-go recommendation actually mean?

At the end of the release-readiness package you get a written call: ship, ship with these known risks, or hold until these specific defects are fixed. It's our professional judgment against the evidence gathered — with the reasoning attached, so the final decision stays yours but is no longer a guess.

How fast can you check something before a release this week?

The $99 smoke test covers one critical flow — signup, checkout, a workout log, a therapy check-in — usually within a couple of days. It's deliberately narrow: a fast answer to “does the thing that matters most still work?”, not a substitute for a full cycle.

What do the monthly retainers cover?

Ongoing QA and release management at $799–$1,999/mo: recurring test cycles matched to your release cadence, defect triage, regression before each release, release notes, risk reporting and go/no-go support. In practice it means every release goes out with an owner who isn't also the person who wrote the code.

Do you test on real devices or emulators?

Both, and we're explicit about which. Emulators are fine for breadth; the defects that embarrass you in reviews — permission dialogs, background sync, keyboard overlaps, notch layouts — surface on physical hardware. Device passes are run against a matrix we agree from your actual user analytics, not a generic list.
